About

I help enterprise organisations modernise software delivery on GitHub — GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security and GitHub Copilot — designing the solution architecture, governance, security and operating models that let DevOps modernisation, developer productivity and AI-assisted engineering scale.

A large part of that is migration architecture and delivery. I lead enterprise moves onto GitHub from Azure DevOps, GitLab and Bitbucket end to end — assessment, migration design, pilot waves, cutover and the adoption work afterwards that decides whether the move actually holds.

My work sits where technology, business and customer success overlap: technical leadership, solution architecture, consultative pre-sales and helping build GitHub Copilot service offerings, guiding organisations from executive briefings, technical discovery and assessments through solution shaping, implementation, adoption and measurable outcomes.

I also build enablement that outlasts a single engagement — training programmes, hands-on workshop repositories and internal champion work that help colleagues and customer teams apply GitHub and GitHub Copilot practices on their own.

Most of my time goes to engineering leaders, architects and platform teams — understanding what actually slows them down, designing practical transformation roadmaps, and showing how a modern developer platform improves collaboration, automation, governance and throughput.

Outside customer engagements I speak at conferences, webinars and community events on DevOps, developer experience, AI-powered development and modern software engineering — including GitHub Copilot agentic workflows and security-first development with GitHub.

Solution architecture, technical pre-sales and migration delivery for enterprise customers modernising software delivery on GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions and GitHub Copilot.

GitHub platform & AI transformation

  • Design governance, security and operating models for enterprise-scale GitHub environments.
  • Advise organisations on GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Copilot adoption strategy.
  • Run ROI and value-realisation assessments for AI-assisted software development.
  • Hands-on with GitHub Copilot modernisation agents — trained on them, evaluated them.

Migration architecture & delivery

  • Migrated hundreds of repositories to GitHub for multiple clients, from source systems including Azure DevOps, GitLab and Bitbucket.
  • Lead enterprise migrations onto GitHub end to end, from assessment and migration architecture through cutover and post-migration adoption.
  • Size and de-risk the work up front through repository and pipeline inventory, dependency mapping and phased cutover planning.
  • Rebuild automation on GitHub Actions as part of the move, rather than lifting existing pipelines across unchanged.
  • Automate migration and platform tasks with Python, Bash, GitHub Apps and webhooks.
  • Owned the Jenkins Configuration as Code (JCasC) deployment on Azure in a migration of Jenkins from on-premises to the cloud.
  • Preserve history, permissions and traceability so teams keep delivering through cutover instead of pausing around it.
  • Run pilot waves and enablement so teams land on the new platform productive rather than stranded on it.

Offerings, pre-sales & customer advisory

  • Help advance the GitHub–SoftwareOne partnership across EMEA, collaborating closely with GitHub product teams and aligning with senior leadership.
  • Helped build the GitHub Copilot Fundamentals and GitHub Copilot Advanced service offerings.
  • Contributed to pre-sales for dozens of projects, from technical advisory to drafting the technical sections of proposals and statements of work (SoWs).
  • Lead technical discovery with enterprise customers to surface the real constraints in their software delivery, not just the stated ones.
  • Translate business and engineering requirements into GitHub-based solution architectures.
  • Deliver executive briefings, technical workshops, proofs of concept and live product demonstrations.
  • Partner with account teams to define adoption strategies and technical roadmaps.
  • Support customers all the way through evaluation, implementation and adoption — not just to signature.

Technical leadership & enablement

  • Served as a global evangelist during SoftwareOne's internal migration from Azure DevOps to GitHub.
  • Technical lead for the small project teams formed around individual customer engagements.
  • Co-developed a tailored GitHub Copilot training and enablement program for a customer engineering organization, helping its engineers apply Copilot in day-to-day development.
  • Internal GitHub Champion and Cloud Community Champion, contributing to enablement initiatives.
  • Speak at industry conferences, webinars, workshops and community events.

Off the clock

Beyond the desk

I started out as a toolmaker before I ever wrote production code, and that habit of taking things apart to understand them never really went away.

  • Mountain biking

Trails and forest singletrack. The best debugging tool I own is two hours on a bike with no phone signal.

  • Family

Family comes first. I’m a dad of three, and home includes a dog, a fish aquarium and a formicarium of ants.

  • Fixing things

Home electrics, technical drawing and CAD, and an apparently endless queue of my kids' broken toys. Nothing gets thrown out until I have had a look at it.
